Pipe, profiles, recycling and pelletizing: what the products are used for and the material points to know before you choose a line.
Plastic pipe
Plastic pipe is an important chemical building material. It performs well, is hygienic and low in cost, and is widely accepted. The main types are UPVC drainage pipe, UPVC water pipe, aluminium-plastic composite pipe, polyethylene (PE) pipe and PPR hot water pipe.
Compared with cast iron, galvanised steel and cement pipe, plastic pipe saves energy, resists corrosion, has a smooth inner wall that does not scale, is easy to install and maintain, and lasts a long time. It is used for building and municipal water supply and drainage, gas, power and cable sheathing, industrial fluids and farm irrigation.
Plastic profiles
Plastic profiles are used for window frames, stair handrails, cable trunking, skirting boards and special-shaped tubes. The main raw material is rigid PVC, with some semi-rigid and soft PVC and polyurethane foam.
Rigid PVC needs impact modifiers such as ACR, CPE, EVA or MBS, usually 6–10%. MBS is mainly used for transparent profiles. EVA is best not used with lead stabilisers, as it can cause powder spots when processing is poor. CPE is best not combined with zinc stabilisers and is weak at low temperatures.
Waste plastic recycling
As plastic consumption grows, so does plastic waste: film, wire, woven fabric, foam, packing boxes and containers, household products, bags and agricultural film.
After sorting, waste plastic is crushed, pelletised and modified into transparent or opaque pellets, sorted again by product type and then reused.
Plastic pelletizing
A recycling granulator turns waste plastic into pellets of a set shape. It suits materials that are melted and condensed below 300 °C, including sulphur, paraffin wax, rosin, asphalt, stearic acid, phenolic and petroleum resins, hot melt adhesives, synthetic soap, urea, additives, and rubber and plastics additives.
